So for a patient in Greece the question is not 'is the trip worth it' but 'what exactly do I gain and what do I risk'. The arithmetic: when it pays off and when it does not
Let us be plain. For a filling, a cleaning or a single crown, do not travel — saving €200–400 is not worth two days. The arithmetic changes from two implants upward: there the difference is €1,500–3,000 and the trip already pays for itself. On large cases — a full set of veneers, a Hollywood smile, All-on-4 — the gap is €5,000–€10,000 per arch, the price of a small car. And because EOPYY does not contribute to any of these treatments for adults, the whole difference is yours.
Quality: the same materials, different operating costs
The usual fear is 'cheap means bad'. In practice, the implants we place are the same German, Swiss and Korean brands the good Athens practices use, and the zirconia and E-max are the same certified blocks. The price difference comes from three things: lower salaries and rent, our own dental laboratory inside the building (no outside technician's fee), and volume — a clinic that does hundreds of All-on-4 cases a year runs on a different economy of scale from a practice that does ten. 'Bad cheap' exists in Turkey too, which is why the choice of clinic matters more than the choice of country.
How to tell a serious clinic
Three things to ask of anyone, not only us. First, registration in the Ministry of Health's health-tourism system (Healin Turkey) — it is public, checkable, and means state inspection of sterilisation, equipment and qualifications. Second, a written warranty in your name with specific years per material, not a verbal 'guarantee'. Third, a written plan and a fixed price before you travel, based on an X-ray — if someone quotes without seeing anything, or the price 'will be finalised on site', walk away. The trip in practice: one hour from Athens
Aegean, Turkish Airlines and Pegasus fly Athens–İzmir in about an hour, with tickets usually €60–150 return; from Thessaloniki there are connections via Istanbul. Our driver waits at İzmir Airport and 80 minutes later you are at your hotel in Kuşadası. From the islands it is simpler still: Samos–Kuşadası 45 minutes by fast ferry, Chios–Çeşme then 90 minutes by road. Greek citizens need no visa; a passport or new-type ID card is enough. Most cosmetic treatments finish in 5–7 nights; implants need a short second visit after 3–6 months — from Greece, a weekend.
What you gain on top — and what you do not
On top: the 5-star hotel and transfers are in the price, so treatment doubles as an Aegean holiday, with Ephesus 25 minutes away. What you do not gain: the convenience of 'dropping in on my dentist round the corner' for a small adjustment — which is why we work with your dentist in Greece for the small things and see you ourselves for the big ones, with the warranty covering it. And no, we will not tell you everything must be done in Turkey: if your case is simple, or needs close medical follow-up, we say so in writing.
